Close collaboration with the BGE
On 21 June 2018, DBE TECHNOLOGY GmbH became BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH by the entry in the commercial register of the district court of Hildesheim. “I am pleased that the new name also makes it clear to the outside world that BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH belongs to us”, says Dr Ewold Seeba, interim chairman of the Management Board of the BGE. Dr Thilo von Berlepsch, Managing Director of BGE TECHNOLOGY, adds: “This is also an important signal for the employees!”
BGE TECHNOLOGY will continue to be active in the fields of international cooperation and projects as well as research and development. Of particular interest to the BGE is the extensive work on final disposal in various host rock formations. This work supports the BGE in the site selection for a repository for high-level radioactive waste. BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH was founded in 2000 and currently employs 33 people.
The BGE is a federally owned company within the portfolio of the Federal Environment Ministry. On 25 April 2017, the BGE assumed responsibility from the Federal Office for Radiation Protection as the operator of the Asse II mine and the Konrad and Morsleben repositories. Its other tasks include searching for a repository site for the disposal of high-level radioactive waste produced in Germany on the basis of the Repository Site Selection Act, which entered into force in May 2017. The managing directors are Dr Ewold Seeba (Acting Chair), Professor Hans-Albert Lennartz (Commercial Manager) and Dr Thomas Lautsch (Technical Manager).
