6 September 2017: Chairman of the BGE Supervisory Board appointed

On 5 September, the BGE Supervisory Board held its constitutive meeting in Berlin. On this occasion, Mr. Jochen Flasbarth, state secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, was appointed as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board will be Jürgen Lühr, chairman of the works council of the Asse-GmbH Gesellschaft für Betriebsführung und Schließung der Schachtanlage Asse II. Both decisions were taken unanimously.

The further members of the Supervisory Board are:

  • Dr. Wolfgang Cloosters, head of the Directorate-General “Safety of Nuclear Installations, Radiological Protection, Nuclear Fuel Cycle” at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety
  • Hubertus Heil, member of the federal parliament (SPD)
  • Franz-Gerhard Hörnschemeyer, industrial group secretary for energy sustainability at the Industry Trade Union for the Mining, Chemical and Energy sector (IG BCE)
  • Steffen Kanitz, member of the federal parliament (CDU/CSU)
  • Sylvia Kotting-Uhl, member of the federal parliament (Bündnis 90/DIE GRÜNEN)
  • Horst Seida, chairman of the works council of the BGE
  • Monika Thomas, head of the Directorate-General “Building, Construction Industry and Federal Buildings” at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety
  • Gregor van Beesel, technician at the Deutsche Gesellschaft zum Bau und Betrieb von Endlagern für Abfallstoffe mbH (DBE)
  • Corinna Westermann, head of sub-directorate at the Federal Ministry of Finance
  • Hubertus Zdebel, member of the federal parliament (DIE LINKE)
