The Management Board

The BGE is represented by the Management Board consisting of Stefan Studt and Dr Thomas Lautsch.

Stefan Studt, Chairman of the Management Board

Stefan Studt has a degree in law with specialisations in the areas of commercial and tax law as well as administrative law. Between 2014 and 2017, Studt was Minister of the Interior and Federal Affairs of the State of Schleswig-Holstein. Before this, he held various high-ranking management positions in state authorities and ministries, including as head of the state chancellery in Kiel.

As Chair of the Management Board, Stefan Studt is responsible for the divisions: Human Resources, Corporate Organisation, Legal, Corporate Communications, Process Monitoring, Risk Management and Corporate Planning, and International.

Dr. Thomas Lautsch, Managing Director

Dr Thomas Lautsch is a graduate engineer for mining. Before becoming Managing Director of Deutsche Gesellschaft zum Bau und Betrieb von Endlagern für Abfallstoffe mbH (DBE) in 2014, he held various management positions in both national and international mining. At the DBE, he was responsible for the technical areas of the group of companies, including the mines in Salzgitter (Konrad shaft), Morsleben, and Gorleben.

At the BGE, Dr Lautsch is responsible for the technical areas with the Konrad and Morsleben repositories and the Asse and Gorleben mines. He has also been assigned the cross-divisional area of technology.
